This collection are the papers of two related families. Samuel Hannah figures prominently in the collection, boxes 1 and 2 containing his personal and business correspondence. Box 3 contains business records of messres Hannah and Cox family letters of Charlotte Hannah. Box 4 contains Grief and Claiborne G. Barksdale correspondence. Box 5 contains correspondence of various Barksdale Family members. Samuel Hannah later moved to Charleston in Kanawha County, West Virginia. There is much information on agriculture, tobacco markets, and social life of the period.
